About Me

Currently Chief Data Barbecue and cofounder at Wise Athena.  Before “turning data into gold” at Wise Athena I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Deusto, working at the MoreLab Research Group. Prior joined Deusto, I was Teaching Assistant/Researcher in the Applied Artificial Intelligence Group (GIAA) at University Carlos III of Madrid Before then I was a Software Engineer in Meteologica S.A. and  Tecsidel S.A.  I’ve also been a Visiting Researcher at the Electrical Engineering Dept. of  Stanford University,  in the WSNL and Ambient Intelligence research groups working with Prof. Hamid Aghajan research team.

In the past, I studied computer science at the Pontifical University of Salamanca with major on software engineering. Then did a Phd in artificial intelligence at the University Carlos III of Madrid. I defended the thesis dissertation: “Distributed Data Fusion in VSNs using Multi-Agent Systems” on July 15th 2010. A work dealing with data fusion techniques to combine/fuse/integrate distributed visual information under multi-camera scenarios.

I was born in San José, Costa Rica, moved with my family to Madrid, Spain when I was a child. Therefore I am “Tico-Español” or “Español-Tico”. My father is a retired professor of psychology at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid.
